Living in Boston, Massachusetts and wondering what the top more affordable gyms are?
Affordable Boston Gyms, or Are They?
I’ve got you covered, here are the top 5 gyms in Boston that can fit your needs. Fair warning, they are not as cheap as if you lived outside the city but you can certainly get your bang for your buck. Through this list, I will explore the differences in costs, whether they are good for female or male bodybuilders and what are the best places for the right price.
Republic Fitness - $19.99 a month (with 4 weeks free during their current promotion)
We start with Republic Fitness, which actually has a decent amount of equipment onsite and can allow for a larger range of workouts. I personally have done a few personal training sessions at Republic Fitness and they have everything you and I would need. However, there are a few caveats with the gym like proof of vaccinations, no show fees for group fitness classes, fees for freezing your membership and so on. These are all hidden in costs that sometimes make gyms a bit more expensive than meets the eye.
Planet Fitness - $24.99 a month
Ultimately Planet Fitness is what it is, if you’re looking for a simpler gym that has weights and equipment that is pretty standard then PF is it. Planet Fitness is not an independent gym and is in my opinion the McDonald’s of Gyms - you go there because you're desperate for something cheap and has what you need.
Commonwealth Sports Club - $79 a month
CSC has a steeper increase in price when compared to the previous 2 gyms but that’s nothing compared to our 4 and 5 memberships. The $79 gets you an individual membership to all access points, interestingly enough they also have a short term membership which allows you to workout for 1 month. The caveat with this gym is that you must stay for at least 4 months to get that pricing. Be careful when you sign up!
Everybody Fights - $150 a month
Everybody fights is a really sweet gym owned by the son of former boxing champion George Foreman, can you guess his son’s name? It’s also George Foreman. This south boston gym is located right in the Seaport area allowing for easy access to the location and walking distance from most businesses and beautiful south Boston harbor. One of the biggest perks if you do drive, is they offer a portion of parking validation during the week. Biggest perk of all is the steam room and pro shop which allow for you to one - get the right workout attire and regroup after you workout.
Lynx Fitness Club - $175 a month
Lynx has some really awesome equipment and deals especially for front line workers looking for a gym in Boston or the work from home types. WFH gyms are hard to come by but at a discounted price then the one listed above you can hit the gym during the 9 am - 4 pm workday but nothing outside of that. The other perk featured is that frontline workers get 20% off monthly dues - that’s a lot! For this price, might as well go to our Free Burn class at Rose Kennedy Greenway.
One thing, you should note is the personal training at these gyms are expensive and not included in the prices above so if you’re looking for a personal trainer outside these expensive fees, you can contact Train With Theresa here.
